E’session: John + Vanessa

Posted by Jonathan in Esession

About 14 e’sessions have missed the blog due to this crazy-busy time for vibrant, so it’s nice to blog one again!

I met John & Vanessa just a short drive from where I live, in Jamberoo. We dodged the fickle weather and the drunk-looking bikers ๐Ÿ˜€ for a gorgeous afternoon. Their Berry wedding will be in May this year. I’m looking forward to going back since Genevieve’s wedding earlier last year. I promise donuts again for the bridal party at Berry Donut shop if its open (please please please!!)

Some shots around town before getting into the fields…

sky was very cool for a while…

Thanks guys for a perfect afternoon ๐Ÿ™‚

The value in hiring an expert!

Posted by Jonathan in Wedding

The first time I realised that Josiah’s easter hat we wereย  creating would be a failure was when its shape was resembling more of a retarded soccerball than looking like an egg. Less than a week ago, we were told that a ‘compulsory’ easter hat parade would happen at school and all students were ‘required’ to bring a homemade easter hat. Bad news people, bad news!

When I was younger my dad made me an easter hat. It was a paper-mache construction made over a balloon. Coloured foil was layered over it to make it look like a big easter egg which sat on my head. Excellent! I had a plan for Josiah’s hat.

I ‘briefed’ Naomi on the project and somehow she was left with it. To be fair, the final product was both of our doing undoing.

This morning I went to finishing Naomi’s ‘handiwork’. The inside was still wet – an oversight by mache’ing the entire balloon. I lined the hat with a plastic bag so the cornflower glue didnt drip into Josiah’s hair. I then had to wrap just about the entire outside in clear stickytape to prevent the delicately glued foil from shedding off.

I then cut a hole in the base for Josiah’s head. His head is big to start with, but I over-estimated its size and the hole was cut too big. so it no longer sat on his head properly. Undeterred, and minutes away from having to get him to school, I came up with a simple, yet I’m sure you will agree, elegant solution — another plastic bag filled with scrunched up newspaper to fit inside it and prop it up on his head!

Suffice to say, I didn’t walk Josiah into school today, I dropped him off at the gate outside.

without the above bag the hat was more of a helmet…

added some cheesy selective colouring… and this look says it all really…

…but the very best part is when we asked Josiah what it was.

“Its a mushroom hat!”

reminds me of the toad character in his wii game – mariokart…

If it does indeed survive today, its fate will involve being filled with lollies and tied up to the clothesline!

Albums, albums, albums!

Posted by Jonathan in Wedding Albums

We’ve had lot’s of albums arrive lately, that I thought we should photograph some and blog them! Queensberry albums have so many beautiful options that it’s always exciting to see each finished product. It’s just the most wonderful feeling to present clients with a beautiful heirloom album that does justice to each of their individual personalities and represents their amazing wedding day.

There is an absolute myriad of leather texture and colour options…

A sample bridal album from Dale & Megan’s shoot at Centennial Vineyards..

Michael & Cassandra’s Album from their gorgeous wedding at Tumbling Waters Retreat..

Michael & Cassandra’s album is fully matted with black mats & a gray border around each image..

Troy & Kristy‘s Album from their wedding at Belgenny Farm.. The cover image is printed on metallic paper which gives the sunset shot even more vibrance!

This shows an optional sheer title pages..

Troy & Kristy also ordered 7″ duplicate albums for their parents and also another for their own brag book..

An e’session sample album from Jeff & Christie‘s HOT e’session at Austinmer. The cover is called eggshell and is sooo soft and dreamy, I’m so glad we get to keep this one!

This is also a duo album in that is has magazine (image right to the edge) pages as well as matted pages. This album has ivory mats – yum!

Last but certainly not least is Mal & Al‘s mammoth panoramic album from their ultra amazing Fountaindale wedding last December:

Check this amazing detail page! Styling by Sheree from She Designs..

Again, this is a duo album with magazine pages and matted pages. This time the mats are black with an ivory border.

We love Queensberry!

Wedding: James + Adele = Perth!

Posted by Jonathan in vi, Wedding

Last month was my first out-of-state wedding for the year! James & Adele were originally planing on having their wedding at Milton Park in Bowral, but due to circumstances, decided to have their wedding back in Fremantle, Perth (or ‘Freo’ to the locals). When they told me that they would have to cancel my services I suggested I’d be happy to travel over to Perth. They hadn’t considered that an option and loved the idea of not having to find another photographer they loved 6 months out from the wedding!

I arrived on the Thursday and spent alot of time catching up on sleep from the past few months deficit ๐Ÿ™‚ and having a look around. Their wedding was on the Saturday so I enjoyed the down-time and being unplugged from work! When I first arrived at Freo it was VERY windy – I wasn’t sure our plans for sunset photos on the beach was going to be a good idea. Come Saturday + alot of r&r the weather was perfect!

They were married and had their reception at St Paul’s Church in Beaconsfield. The same church Adele’s Mother was married in. A good friend of the family and minister of the church, Peter (aka Peter Priest) married them. The day before the wedding the church was still in the middle of renovations. Weeks earlier it didn’t even have a back wall, so it was amazing to see even the transformation from the Thursday I arrived to the Saturday. I was even roped in to lend a hand and help clean things up ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyway – enough words – on with the photos!

James had to be granted special permission to wear his winter navy uniform in this summer season (vs Jeff + JB’s recent wedding)

there was lots of happy, fun moments during the ceremony…

we moved into Freo for some photos – I loved the old buildings and light that hit around that time of day…

making the most of an alleyway next to one of the buildings… <3 this one!!

I could shoot against this facade-thingy all day!

super love this one…

Then down to the beach for the sunset – OVER the water!! It was a shame we had no cloud to bring up the colours – but still stunning!

There was a raised Jetty on the beach and we got Adele and James up onto it with some cheers from onlookers! (about head-height with no steps or a ladder)

the girl can bend…!

bts

then back to St Pauls for the reception in the church hall…

sunflowers grew wild everywhere!

then a few shots around the hall…

bts

Jumps up and down on the chair – “I freakin LOVE my job!”

Feel free to Leave James & Adele a lovely comment.
