Another lovely family I photographed some weeks ago in the Southern Highlands…

Last Wednesday I ran my first ‘lighting bootcamp’ workshop. There was supposed to be a workshop before on the Sunday but the weather was impossibly foul (that insanely wet weekend) so this was the first. It was a great day. Again I was worried about threatening thunderstorms as per the weather forecast. But I decided that the weather would be in typical fickle Highlands style, so we would probably have the 4 seasons in the one day. I am really happy I didn’t postpone this one also. We had glorious sun, some fun rain and it ended up being a great day. Some special thanks in order for Yvette and Claire from Ethix for prepping our model Bella.
I showed as much as I possibly could throughout the day (although always more things came to mind when I sat in bed that night and reflected on the day). More or less a brain vomit and hoping it was coherent enough! During the day I showed; shooting in sunshine, posing in sun, using light angles, using natural reflectors, using reflectors in sun and shade, using off-camera flash – both small speedlights and larger studio packs, using grids, emulating window light with flash, using video light, light painting, burning things – smoke and steel wool and a host of other things.
Thanks to the 11 photographers who took time out to come and join me for the day!
Here are some frames I took during the day as I demonstrated photography techniques. These photos are unretouched (except for the black and white changes)

Back to the blog, we visit Rob + Lou’s wedding day at Summerlees in April. They had a small intimate wedding ceremony on the property. No getting ready photos, or reception photos. Just their ceremony and some photos around the grounds afterwards.
Loved the colours, the happiness and the love evident between the 2 of them. Thanks for choosing me to join your precious day 🙂

Todays Wednesday 1up is courtesy of the wedding I photographed on Monday at Summerlees cottages in Sutton Forest. It was a small intimate wedding (16 guests) and we had the perfect weather for their photos around the property.1 Comment | Leave a Comment
James & Hannah were married at the stunning Summerlees property in Sutton Forest back in January this year. Following an amazing wedding there earlier by our own Nelson, we were looking forward to returning. It turned out to be a brilliant day, despite the rain coming down a few times. (hey 4 seasons in a day I say in the highlands) Both Hannah’s parents visit Bali regularly and it was lovely to see some of that Balinese influence in their theming. The day turned out to be everything they had wanted – their friends having ALOT of fun.
winning – Pimms + lemonade for guests!
J&H do alot of riding back at home in England, so it was only fitting they made their entry into the reception on bike!
and I loved people’s response to them…
and this guest sums it up really…
and more photos available here for guests. (passcode is Hannah’s maiden name, all in lowercase)
