Wedding: Mark + Chantelle
Mark & Chantelle had their Camden wedding back on Sunday the 10th of March. It seems ages ago when I first met with them in Wollongong to discuss their plans. I had met Chantelle’s mother a few times prior, she is a civil celebrant and has hosted some weddings in the Southern Highlands I have shot. It was a perfect day, their venue location, Belgenny Farm is a great location to walk around and play with light and textures.

Hello winter
Winter is no longer coming (GOT reference) it’s here. It means a few things, my birthday, less weddings and catching up all the work I created in the previous months so I can do it all again in a few months time.

I get a lot of inquiries for portrait shoots – families, couples etc and I usually have to turn them away due to my insane wedding workload. Well this winter I have some free slots available for people who would like a portrait shoot with Vibrant Photography. As a special winter promo, we are offering 50% discount off our usual portrait photography service, bringing the cost down to $440.00. This price includes an outdoor location photoshoot and edited, retouched photos provided on digital media. (approx 30 images)

‘Lighting Bootcamp’ v1 recap
Last Wednesday I ran my first ‘lighting bootcamp’ workshop. There was supposed to be a workshop before on the Sunday but the weather was impossibly foul (that insanely wet weekend) so this was the first. It was a great day. Again I was worried about threatening thunderstorms as per the weather forecast. But I decided that the weather would be in typical fickle Highlands style, so we would probably have the 4 seasons in the one day. I am really happy I didn’t postpone this one also. We had glorious sun, some fun rain and it ended up being a great day. Some special thanks in order for Yvette and Claire from Ethix for prepping our model Bella.
I showed as much as I possibly could throughout the day (although always more things came to mind when I sat in bed that night and reflected on the day). More or less a brain vomit and hoping it was coherent enough! During the day I showed; shooting in sunshine, posing in sun, using light angles, using natural reflectors, using reflectors in sun and shade, using off-camera flash – both small speedlights and larger studio packs, using grids, emulating window light with flash, using video light, light painting, burning things – smoke and steel wool and a host of other things.

workshop: lighting bootcamp for February
I’m baaaaack. Bringing some final details for my February lighting workshops. Yes next month 2013 0_o
I will be running the workshop at Summerlees Cottages where I have been quite a few times and ran part of my last workshop there. There is plenty of accommodation options in the area, including Peppers Manor House just down the road. Summerlees is part of the Southern Highlands, south of Bowral and boasts lovely, whimsical countryside with a classic french provincial twist.
course schedule
This course will be largely a hands-on practical photography workshop on learning how to work with light. Most of the time will be spent taking photos of live model/s and I explain as I go my approach to lighting and getting the most from your photos. The day will run from approx 10am to 8pm, with some small breaks between for hosted lunch and breaks (so your brain doesn’t overload)
We will spend time firstly working with natural light, looking for light, shadows and taking beautiful shots without any of our own lighting. This will include posing people in harsh midday sunlight (hopefully the highlands weather plays nice)
As the day progresses we will add reflector/s, off-camera flash and video light to extend your photography. Participants will have opportunities to take photos as we go and are encouraged to bring their camera equipment. We will end the day with some night photography techniques including smoke effects, stars and fairy lights. (time permitting)
This course is aimed primarily at seasoned photographers, but amateurs and beginners are encouraged to also participate. A more tailored workshop can be had with a 1 on 1 workshop. Contact me for more details.
